Free vs Premium
Understand the difference before you upgrade.
StateSense Free is a genuinely useful tier — not a crippled demo. You get all core features: auto-snapshots, visual diffs, restore preview, and git-aware cleanup. Pinning and renaming are Premium-only features.
The free-tier limit in practice
With 7 snapshots you can cover a typical focused work session. The limit is enforced at the workspace level — each workspace has its own 7-snapshot pool.
When the 7-snapshot limit is reached, auto-snapshots pause. You will see a notification with options to clear old snapshots or upgrade. Manual snapshots are also paused until you free up space or upgrade.
What Pro unlocks
- Unlimited snapshots — the 7-snapshot cap is removed entirely
- Pin checkpoint — when you manually clear snapshots, the pinned snapshot and its chain are kept so you can always restore to that state
- Rename snapshots — give snapshots meaningful names to find them instantly
- Auto-snapshots never pause — continuous protection throughout your session
- Priority support — faster response to bug reports and questions
- All future features — everything shipped in v1.x, no extra charges

How does Premium activate?
After subscribing, your license is verified against your Stripe account. StateSense checks the license at startup and periodically while VS Code is open. No special steps are needed — just restart VS Code after subscribing.
