Manual Snapshots

Create a named checkpoint at any moment.

While auto-snapshots handle the background protection, manual snapshots let you mark a specific moment as important — before a big refactor, before testing a risky change, or at the end of a productive session.

How to take a manual snapshot

Three ways:

  1. Command Palette: Ctrl+Shift+PStateSense: Take Snapshot
  2. Right-click in the Explorer → StateSense: Take Snapshot
  3. Click the camera icon in the StateSense sidebar header

Naming a snapshot

When you take a manual snapshot, you can optionally give it a name. Named snapshots are easier to find later. You can also rename any snapshot after the fact by right-clicking it in the sidebar → Rename Snapshot.

Free tier limit

On the free tier, manual snapshots count toward the 7-snapshot limit. If the limit is reached, you can either clear old snapshots or upgrade to Premium for unlimited snapshots.
